Cordless Brushless Hammer Driver Drill With Handle For Makita 18V Battery
A part of the review has been auto-translated.
On receiving this sturdy looking hammer driver, oblivious to the fact it is an obvious copy of a McKeetar, my hands could barely pry open the packaging, trembling with excitement as I was. Sadly, my ecstasy wore off, as it always does, and I had to come to terms with some hard truths. This does not have a locking chuck. Enquiries to BG customer service could not tell me if this was a feature or a fault, but did offer to pay for repairs after I had a quote approved by them from a local service. Rather than explain that repairers of knock off electric drills are thin on the ground in these parts. So I sucked it up (not literally, I decided to live with attaching and unattaching bits by motoring the drill). Maybe the locking ratchet thing is normal for these, and many people use the motor to lock in bits, so meh. But also the Makita battery does not fit well: I had to actually grind the plastic slot out in order that the battery clicked into place, otherwise it tended to fall out during use resulting in injuries. In use it was fine, std 3 selections drill/screw and hammer, nice big handle and very sturdy, if poorly designed. In summary, I can't recommend this due to the fact there are many others on BG that are no doubt cheaper and better quality. It is in my opinion a dud for the price particularly given my experience with other similar items (a driver and a hammer drill based on Makita batteries which are excellent value), makes it look mediocre.
